Children + Families

We are particularly happy to be able to welcome young visitors and their families, and children and youths up to the age of 18 are granted entrance free of charge to the Textile Museum. Textiles and fashion enthusiasts from 7 years of age upwards may receive a sketch notebook from the KARO visitors’ service with interesting information and lots of space for your own designs. Colouring-in prints are also available for younger children.

It is our wish to open up the exciting world of textiles to children and youngsters and to organise special workshops and guided tours on a range of topics. This year, for example, we invite you to visit Empa, the materials’ research institute. Here – mostly behind closed doors – new fabrics and their application for use in clothing, sports, cars and the like, are analysed. We also offer an interesting programme for all age groups at the annual International Museum Day, as well as at St. Gallen Museum Night.

By the way, our Fibre Cabinet is always worth a visit, where you can learn interesting facts about the various textile materials and techniques.
